The Wheat Kings are Brandon’s Western Hockey League franchise.
A properly built website is a key component of the way today’s sports
team and league communicates and builds loyalty with fans, media and other
stakeholders. For this reason it was critical to create a backend system
that allows staff—from public relations to management—to update
information instantly.
WheatKings.com features detailed news, multimedia including a custom
popup video player, an online e-store, an e-mail list and more.
A hockey statistics system was developed whereby player and team stats
are calculated and tracked in great depth. As well, using the system fan
subscribers to the team’s e-mail list receive automatic scoring
summaries at the conclusion of each game so as to stay as up-to-date as
possible.
A custom fantasy draft promotion was created whereby fans may register
to select their “WHL Dream Team” for a chance at numerous
prizes.
