Showcase Hockey is a large Minnesota-based hockey organization that caters to over 100 teams and over 1000 players annually. Office staff wanted to better make use of the web in their communications with current and prospective hockey players, teams, coaches and referees.

A complex system was developed whereby individual pages were created for each of the organization’s ten hockey leagues. Within each of those leagues is an individual page for each team. Teams have the ability to login to post information, submit scores for automatic updating of standings and more. By developing things such a way, it was no longer necessary to field hundreds of phone calls and input/tabulate statistical data. Through the new system this is all handled automatically by passing the responsibility on to member teams.

As well a secure online registration system was build whereby players or teams may completely register online to participate in Showcase’s tryouts, leagues and tournaments. Upon receipt of money via credit card, an automatic e-mail is sent to designated staff confirming the registration and all of its details.

A number of other backend features, including news, photo album and file posting were created to give office staff complete flexibility to communicate with its customers.
